A street-side vegetable market in Hanoi, Vietnam

The longest trip I’ve taken to date in Asia was a swing through the classic backpacker circuit of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. Compared to China, the volume of foreign travelers is truly overwhelming. Although this makes traveling easy (everyone speaks English), it can also mean that some of the most interesting places to visit are crazily crowded, and crazily commercialized.
