Japan: clean, efficient, expensive. The stereotypes are true. After a month and a half in southeast Asia, traveling in Japan was a relief. Thanks to the  Japan Rail Pass, we never had to worry about transportation. But we did have to watch our wallets — Japan really is expensive.
