About
To China… and Beyond! offers inspiration and information for travelers bound for China, Asia and Beyond! Try the front page for stories from my latest travel stories or the travel guides for useful information on destinations all over China.
I first moved to China in June 2008 to work as an English teacher in Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province. Beginning in September 2010, I will be living in Beijing and studying Mandarin. The best part of living here is how easy it is to travel; the second-best part is the food. I grew up eating at Henry’s Hunan Restaurant, founded way back in the day by a Changsha native, and two years in his hometown has only increased my appetite for mouthnumbingly spicy foods.

About the site
To China… and Beyond! is a labor of love. I make a few pennies from AdSense and recently launched my first product, a guide to ordering Chinese food in China. (Only $1.99!) Aside from that, my travels are funded by my teaching salary. Unless otherwise stated, I have personally stayed in every hotel, eaten in every restaurant and done every activity reviewed on the site. I don’t promise your experience will be exactly like mine, but I do promise to be honest about what happened to me.
The site runs on WordPress using the Thesis theme from DIY Themes. The social media icons are from Komodo Media.
For the curious, the photos used in the logo are, going clockwise from the bottom right, from the Forbidden City, Dehang, Yongding County, Dunhuang, Luang Prabang (Laos), Shaoshan, the Lama Temple (Beijing), and the Great Wall at Jinshanling.
