Gorgeous photos! I have heard similar things about getting ripped off on transportation, which is why we opted for the tour.

This is by far the best section of the Great Wall to hike. The views are incredible and the low level of tourism makes for a truly serene experience. I did this hike in 2007 and camped at the highest gaurd tower on the hill.. worth doing the packaged tour because I got ripped off on transport… glad you made it up here to do this.
